Darksiders 1 or 2?- By: Risen Ant

Description : How many of you hold dear Darksiders 2? It was an awesome game. But there was a sole pitfall, and only one imperfection or rather instead of an imperfection more like a lingering question. Which was stronger? Death? Or War?

In Darksiders 2, Death was a notable cool protagonist. The only problem with Death was that in Darksiders 2 the game kept telling me that Death was some astonishingly powerful individual but he never felt astonishingly almighty . At times he actually felt weaker than War from the first Darksiders game. Think of how that had to feel for me with the entire game focused on Death being the most powerful horseman but instead of having that feeling; I felt like Death was insubstantial.

That being true it's hard to compare the two. In Darksiders 2, Death had a completely distinct approach to battle than War did. War was built as a tank character while Death was a rogue. Death couldn't stand and take the big hits like War could but Death was much more agile than War. Which translated to a more fluid fighting style centered around constantly attacking.

Based on sheer stats who was actually more powerful? I think Death could hands down do the most damage with his twin blades and Death's spells even did more damage and were more useful than War's spells. Death just couldn't take hits as well. That seemed to be Death's only flaw. When he was surrounded the game got challenging compared to War's game. But that was nullified because Death's game had bigger worlds and even the dungeons gave you enough range to backflip your way out of harm. That was one of the things that made Death so cool. He was very acrobatic. War on the other hand is very stoic he could stand up against hordes and swarms of enemies. It made you feel amazingly powerful.

The only way I see to answer this question definitely is by measuring their competition. Who faced tougher opponents in their games? War? or Death? Which game had the strongest enemies Darksiders or Darksiders 2? From that stand point I don't see how to answer it. On one hand War face some pretty good challenges on the other side Death took on enemies that were the size of skyscrapers and were masters of their own world. Also in Darksiders 2, Death wasn't tired or fazed at all after each confrontation. So once again I don't see a way to conclusively answer this question.

With no definitive answer the question comes down to feel, and that's an issue as how you feel can't be compared from one person to the next. That being said I know exactly how I feel. And I feel like War was a much greater warrior than Death was hands down. But Death can still take solace in the fact that he is the much cooler horseman of the apocalypse. If you can't beat them with skill than beat them with style and that is where Death truly shines through with Darksiders 2.
